The Swedish Tanners’ Association represents tanneries and tannery processors that have production in Sweden and safeguards their common interests nationally and internationally, except in matters relating to relations between them as employers and their employees.
We add value to our members by offering support, advice and information. We work for a united sector and create opportunities for communication, networking and cooperation. We protect and promote the leather identity and we strive to promote the future of the leather industry in Sweden.
The Swedish Tanners’ Association enables
Training and increasing skills in the tanning industry and creating networks at different levels of the industry.
External environmental advice to member companies
Dialogue and cooperation with organizations working in areas where leather, sheepskin and reindeer skins are used.
We represent the interests of our members through membership of the Confederation of National Associations of Tanners and Dressers of the European Community (COTANCE), the Nordic Leather Research Council, SIS TK158 Leather and Footwear.
The Swedish Tanners’ Association supports the following code of conduct adopted by COTANCE
Respect for human rights is a very important pillar of working life. As a member of COTANCE (Confederation of National Associations of Tanners and Dressers of the European Community), the Swedish Tanners’ Association fully supports the Code of Conduct adopted by COTANCE and ETUF:TCL (European Trade Union Federation of Textiles, Clothing and Leather).

COTANCE
Confederation of National Associations of Tanners and Dressers of the European Community – is the umbrella organization for the European leather industry in the EU. COTANCE includes almost all the trade associations of the leather industry in the EU, representing over 95% of European tanners. The organization has its secretariat in Brussels and member associations in Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK.

ICT – International Council of Tanners
The International Council of Tanners – ICT – is the global organization for the leather industry. ICT was founded in 1926, when there was a great need to establish a uniform international agreement for the purchase and sale of hides, skins and leather to facilitate, regulate and promote international trade in the sector.
