The Swedish Tanners’ Association aims to promote the future of the leather industry in Sweden. Member companies of the Swedish Tanners’ Association use hides and skins from cattle, sheep and reindeer raised in Scandinavia.

Animal welfare is important for tanners producing high-quality leather and sheep and reindeer skins, as the hide reflects how the animal has been treated. From a leather producing perspective, leather and high quality animal welfare go hand in hand. The production of high-quality leather thus enables tanners to make an impact on animal welfare. Traceability systems are in place that allow the leather industry to engage with agriculture on this important issue.
